CAUTION! PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FIRST TIME YOU LISTEN TO FADE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT! FOR FULL EXPERIENCE, REMOVE ANY DISTRACTIONS, TURN DOWN ANY LIGHTING, AND LISTEN TO FADE ON HIGH QUALITY REFERENCE MONITORS OR STUDIO HEADPHONES WITH A GENEROUS AMOUNT OF VOLUME!
Fade is a song about having integrity where it matters most. Being a true person, no matter what anyone thinks. When we reach the end of our lives, we will have shoved down our throats a painful realization of what we have failed to see every day. You will then learn about what is the most important thing to have in your life. Integrity, intensity, and a drive to rise above all obstacles. Shed your old beliefs. They offer you no solace. Prepare for the onslaught. I will proudly fight and die next to you on the front lines.
Life is all about the chorus. Let me show you what I mean.
Fade was originally created as a concept song for a fifteen minute video. It was written on the road hitchhing and travelling coast to coast across canada for over four months.
There are several different versions of Fade. This is the standard tuning version. It was originally meant to be a concept album on it's own, and has different versions in open C major and minor tunings. Fade was originally written in an open C minor tuning on acoustic guitar.
There has been no equalization, compression, or effects added to this track in post production. This is the true raw sound of Anchored In The Abyss. Delay recorded straight to tape. Recorded with RME audio converters. Guitars tuned to 432hz.
Metal influences of note:
-August Burns Red
-The Devin Townsend Project
-All Shall Perish
Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Theremin, Tambourine, Drums.
"When I record theremin, I always use the first take no matter how weird it sounds. Hahaha I don't really know why, but I think its hilarious. I feel like the soul of my theremin likes being abused, dropped, kicked, and messed with HARD. The hits translate into sound, its the weirdest thing to experience. I almost threw it into a fire once, and one day I will find some awesome way to destroy it. I'm sure I'll get a lot of emails and messages (E-mail me your extensive theremin plea @ email@example.com
) telling me to have more sympathy for its feelings, but then again, it doesn't have any feelings hahaha. Theremin really is a lot of fun to play."
